A miniature blanc de Chine wine cup from the Dehua kilns recovered from the Vung Tau shipwreck and dating from the end of the Seventeenth Century. Diameter 4.3cm (1.7”)
The cup has a label from the Christies sale of the Vung Tau cargo indicating it was sold as part of lot 519. There is a label inside the cup from the London specialist Robert McPherson.
Dating: Kangxi c1690-1700
This cup is in excellent, undamaged, condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There a two small dark firing spots inside the cup (see images). The glaze of the cup has been softened from submergence but still retains a good shine.
