A Chinese export bowl, decorated in underglaze blue with flower sprays, and dating from the Kangxi period. The bowl has been over-decorated in Holland (Amsterdams Bont) with a rich decoration of flowers and with exotic birds in a famille verte palette of overglaze green, yellow and red with gilding. Around the base there are four cartouches with ducks swimming amongst flowers. The inside of the bowl is over-decorated with a basket of flowers and with further floral sprays. Diameter 14.5cm (5.7").
A very attractive decoration.
Kangxi or Yongzheng c1720-1735
The bowl has two hairlines from the rim, pointed out in the last picture. No other damage. As is often the case, the enamels in the centre of the bowl have worn from use over the last 250 years. As can be appreciated from the pictures, the enamels on the outside of the bowl are in very good condition.
